Potter Plant Hire have provided plant services on the A1 Improvement projects [ A1D2L and A1L2B ] for over 8 years. The services provided by Potter Plant Hire includes the provision of a large cross section of plant and equipment needed to deliver major infrastructure projects, and during this period, Potter Plant Hire have transitioned their business accordingly and have continued to expand their capacity and capability to meet the needs of the project and the sector. We have an exceptional relationship with Potter Plant Hire, namely Giles Potter and Lee Nickling, both of whom are fully integrated into the project team and work very closely with us to deliver exceptional results. Giles and his business pride themselves on delighting the customer and the quality of their approach, products and services is always excellent. Potter Plant Hire have worked closely and collaboratively with other key members of the supply chain and they have always been committed, and been a part of, the health and safety initiatives ran on the project. They have been, and are, without doubt one of the key supply chain members on the A1 Improvement project and I would actively engage their services without hesitation in the future.

Potter Plant Hire proved to be an exceptional supplier of Plant & Operators on the FARRRS scheme and the provision of this equipment and resources was a key factor in the successful delivery of the significant self-delivered earthworks package. This in turn contributed to the successful completion of the £40million scheme and was recognised by Carillion & our Client; DMBC.

The plant supplied by Potter Plant Hire was always of very good quality; with all accompanying valid test certification and paperwork. The plant required minimal maintenance and/or repair and arrived when required, even if it was requested at short notice. The drivers were always very competent and capable of undertaking the challenging tasks set them by our Works Manager; Declan O’Shea and we had no safety incidents involving Potters Plant or Drivers during the 132 weeks that we were on site. In fact, refreshingly the drivers were very happy to engage with the site team to communicate constructive feedback. This engaging and cooperative style is replicated by Giles Potter who was always very proactive at assisting with and advising on the resolution of any problems that were encountered and sourcing whatever plant was required in a very timely manner.

I would definitely promote the use of Potter Plant Hire on other Carillion contracts and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other Clients or Contractors.

TO whom it may be concerned came across giles potter about 12 years ago on a road job that I was general foreman on for Alfred McAlphine was just starting out, Alfred McAlphine decided to give this young fella a go and he has thrived since.

I have used him on various jobs since and the quality and reliability of his plant and his drivers is very good. If there is a problem anywhere or a machine I need he will put maximum effort in to solve it.

He has now grown the business to multiple units of plant and I thought he would get to big but he has proven me wrong, as the plant and the operatives are top quality. Since he has supplied plant to me I have never had one of his machine operators involved in any safety incidents. If you require any more information don’t hesitate to ask.
